At the end of 2022 I got an opportunity working with Fujifilm Indonesia for the launching of XT-5. As you guys now I am a brand ambassador of Fujifilm Camera since 2016. Before the launch of XT-5, they sent me one of their pre-production X-T5 unit for me to test. Back to photography oriented design
The first thing I love about this camera is the LCD design. Unlike the Fujifilm X-T4’s flip-out LCD touchscreen it has 3 ways LCD design with a bumped-up resolution of 1.84 million dots that optimized for photography. If you been using X-T3 or older, you will familiar with it design. I love that Fujifilm bring back the LCD design of X-T series into this camera. The dial position & function are also the same, but it come with ergonomic improvement. The grip & handling are now much better in my hand. In spec, the weight is also reduced compared to X-T4 series, 50g lighter than the X-T4. All this improvement help to reduce fatigue on my wrist especially for shooting 8 hours and longer weddings.

40m Pixel Sensor, The Little Giant
With the new X-Trans CMOS 5, X-T5 comes with an impressive 40.2MP BSI imaging sensor and the new X-Processor 5, which gives double the processing speed of the X-T4 and a 20% longer battery life. It’s the first APSC camera that has a massive sensor. The new 40 M pixel sensor give you a boost of Image quality. If you love pixel peeping, you will be in love with the detail it produce and oh also not to mention about the cropping flexibility.
But yes, bigger resolution always come with a bigger file size. This is what I’m worry about this new sensor. Surprisingly with compressed RAW format It just adding 30% of file size compared to the 26M pixel sensor, but i feel the improvement in image quality is incomparable.
Autofocus Speed
The new sensor also come with faster autofocus performance, subject detection algorithm, and many new interesting focus feature to try. This help a lot when shooting wedding that require to capturing lots of movement & moments. Especially in wedding, most of the authentic moment’s happen in split second, so the fast autofocus is really important aspect that need to be a consideration when choosing a camera.
1/180.000s electronic shutter
Aside from it hi resolution improvement, the feature that i love the most from this new generation sensor is the faster electronic shutter speed. It helps when you shoot bokeh all day long with f1.0 lens in the bright environment like Bali. It can shoot as fast as 180 000 of a seconds. With this feature you can ditch the ND filter completely.
Fujifilm X-T5 for Wedding Photography
I’ll be using this camera as my main camera on my wedding & engagement couple photography works. This will be beneficial for the client that require to print their image bigger.
