Apoorva and Nahin celebrated their Bali Nikah Ceremony at Wonderland Uluwatu. The Nikah is a significant religious ceremony for a Muslim couple, marking their legal union under Islamic law. During this ceremony, the couple officially expresses their commitment by saying “I accept.” This practice is rooted in Prophetic tradition and is the only permissible way for a man and woman to marry in Islam.
Having photographed many Indian weddings in Bali, this was my first opportunity to witness a Muslim ceremony. The ceremony was beautifully simple and conducted quickly, highlighting the essence of their commitment to one another.
Apoorva looked stunning in her red lehenga, embodying traditional elegance, while Nahin appeared equally refined in his bandhgala suit. The ceremony area was beautifully adorned with jasmine flowers, adding a touch of natural beauty to their special day. A beautiful tradition in their ceremony was that the couple could not see each other until the chief announced they were husband and wife, heightening the anticipation and emotion of the moment.
The Ijab-e-Qubul (or Ijab Kabul) ceremony is a significant part of Muslim weddings, signifying the mutual consent of the bride and groom to enter into marriage. During this ceremony, the groom expresses his acceptance of the bride’s hand in marriage, and the bride reciprocates her acceptance. This exchange is typically witnessed by family and friends, emphasizing the importance of community in this sacred commitment.
