Bedugul encompasses a vast area of Bali’s central highlands, including the villages of Bedugul, Candikuning, Pancasari, Pacung, and Wanagiri, among others. Renowned for its natural beauty, the region is highlighted by three crater lakes—Bratan (Beratan), Buyan, and Tamblingan—and the nearby botanical gardens. Situated at an altitude of 700 meters or higher, with peaks exceeding 2,000 meters, the area offers a cooler climate that contrasts with Bali’s coastal heat.
For photographers, Bedugul offers an extensive route covering the entire region, as well as the nearby village of Munduk to the west, home to the stunning Munduk Waterfall.
In addition to the lakes, another sought-after photography location in Bedugul is the Northern Waterfall. The area is home to numerous unique waterfalls, providing diverse and picturesque backdrops for capturing Bali’s enchanting landscapes.
The journey from Denpasar to Bedugul takes approximately two hours, so it’s best to start early to capture the breathtaking sunrise at Tamblingan or Beratan Lake.
