Since our last trip in Bangkok on February 2012, we had the greatest opportunity to travel to South Korea with Garuda Indonesia Airlines, actually this trip was my girlfriend’s dream. 🙂
We were traveling for 8 days, 6 days in Seoul and 2 days in Jeju Island.
Transport
Seoul is one of the toughest city in Asia, because you couldn’t imagine how big the city is and you need to understand the subway-lines, figure the transport cost, the route map, and the biggest challenge is language however once you understand the subway lines then the city is yours. We used the subway a lot while we were there, it was cheap, easy and really fast. The subway will save your time a lot. Oh, using T-Money is a life saver as well…
People
Only a few people who are able to speak English, therefore it’s quite difficult to communicate with the local, especially when you are lost. Smartphone + google translate are a must have! When you traveling alone, prepare to be jealous, cos everywhere you go you’ll see many romantic couples, in the train, park, restaurant, cafe, even on the street. I would say that Seoul is the most romantic city in Asia (perhaps in the world?). The good thing about Korea is the people are don’t really care if you point a camera to them, a street photographer’s wonderland isn’t it…?
Shopping
I gotta tell you, Seoul is the city for shopping and plastic surgery. The visitor mostly (I’d say 85%) are shopaholic and people who are coming for plastic surgery. If you smart enough, you’ll get some cheap product for clothing and accessories however the prices are mostly really expensive, especially in Gangnam area, yes REALLY EXPENSIVE! so prepare your Credit Card guys! Well if you aren’t interested in shopping, in Gangnam you can see a lot of pretty girls (read: HOT CHICKS) walking around the street, a free eye treatment though 😀
Entertainment
The theme park in Everland Resort was really spectacular, especially the T-Express: Steepest Scariest Wooden Roller Coaster… 3 min, 77 degrees & 57 meters drop, and 200 kilometers per hour of speed. Enough to make you vomit and screaaaaammmm! 😀 Absolutely must try!
Jeju Island
We flew to Jeju Island to visit one of the world’s seven wonder, The Seongsan Ilcheulbong. Unfortunately it was raining when we were there however we can still enjoy the marvelous views from the top of the mountain.
Many things to say about South Korea, but i prefer to let you know from the pictures, so please enjoy some of my shoots 🙂
