The unique appeal of Canggu’s black sand adds a touch of mystery and elegance to any photoshoot. There were 2 beaches in Canggu where I often go for photo shootings, Mengening Beach and Nyanyi Beach. The view is quite similar but I prefer Mengening beach now as it’s more spacious and less crowded. Mengening beach is also famous for its dramatic rock formations. The descent offers an overview of the beach so you can easily pick a spot that’s less crowded.

Best Time to Shoot

The best time to shoot at Canggu Beach largely depends on the specific look and feel you’re aiming for in your photoshoot. Here are some considerations for different times of the day:

Sunrise: Early morning shoots offer soft, golden light and fewer crowds, creating a peaceful and romantic atmosphere. The beach is often quieter during this time, allowing for more intimate shots without distractions.

Golden Hour and Sunset: The hour before sunset is known as golden hour, and it’s widely considered the best time for photography due to its warm, flattering light. The golden hues cast a magical glow over the beach, enhancing the beauty of the black sand and creating stunning silhouettes against the horizon. Sunset shoots can be incredibly dramatic, with vibrant colors painting the sky as the sun dips below the horizon. This time of day offers dynamic lighting and breathtaking backdrops, perfect for capturing silhouette kind of images, dramatic and romantic images.

The weather here changes rapidly so always check beforehand and be prepared. Watch out for the occasionally unpredictable waves especially if you are doing the photoshoot near the water.
