Nusa Penida

About Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida is the largest of Nusa Islands off the southeastern coast, the others being Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. Nusa Penida is becoming the new favorite location for photo shoots in Bali, this island offers clear waters, pristine white sand beaches. The island also has a stunning natural rugged beauty and amazing underwater life with colorful corals.

There are so many photo spots here from sunrise to sunset, I will divide the locations by the best photo timing so it would be easier for you to decide on the routes.

For Sunset Session

Crystal Bay

Crystal Bay is probably the most popular beach on Nusa Penida for a number of reasons. It is the best sunset beach, facing directly west. This alone makes it a winner for a sunset photo session at the beach. I usually visit this beach before heading to Kelingking or Broken Beach. This beach also popular for snorkeling, I did snorkel one around the beach and it was fantastic!

Broken Beach (Pasih Uug)

Broken beach is an incredible little cove in the western part Nusa Penida. Local named it Pasih Uug (broken beach in Balinese) as the beach was broken by the waves crashed into the wall. The structure of the wall is very unique hard to find anywhere in the world. People also coming here to see manta ray from the top of the beach but until now I can’t see any of them.

Kelingking Beach T-Rex

For me, Kelingking is the main attraction of Nusa Penida, Bali. This location is so famous for tourists because the cliff structure looks like a T-Rex from the top. From the viewpoint, you have a look over the limestone formations, ocean, and Kelingking Beach. The walk down to this beach is a hard one and might be even the most difficult beach to reach in Bali so we usually do the shot only from the top.

For Sunrise Session

Atuh Beach

Atuh Beach is one of the beaches in Nusa Penida located in Eastside making it’s great for a sunrise spot. The beach provides beautiful coves and quiet ambiance away from many tourists.

Diamond Beach

Diamond Beach is a new, untouched, white-sand, and silky blue water bay on the eastern tip of Nusa Penida. The stairs down just recently finished in 2018. With a long stretch of white sand, palm trees, rock pools, and glistening turquoise sea, Diamond Beach will be the new highlights of Nusa Penida.
