Melasti Beach Ungasan is one of Bali’s most striking beaches for photography, and it has been a favorite of mine since the early days of my work. Over the years, it has consistently stood out as a location that offers both dramatic scenery and practical ease, a rare combination for a beach photoshoot.
What makes Melasti Beach Ungasan so special is the way its elements come together so effortlessly. The dramatic, towering stone walls carved into the cliffs create an impressive approach, while the dark candi bentar temple gates contrast beautifully against the white sand. Add the soft blue and green tones of the ocean, the white rocky cliffs, and a spectacular sunset, and you have a setting that feels unmistakably Bali. These natural textures and colors make Melasti Beach an ideal backdrop for fine art photography sessions.
The beach itself is also very accessible. The walk from the parking lot is short, and the shoreline is generally calm, with consistent swells and gentle wind, making it a safe and comfortable option for family sessions as well. Its location is especially convenient if you’re staying in the Nusa Dua or Uluwatu area, making Melasti Beach Ungasan an easy and rewarding choice for a relaxed yet visually stunning photoshoot.
This location can be photographed at both sunrise and sunset, but if you prefer fewer crowds, I recommend scheduling the shoot at sunrise.
For a photoshoot at Melasti Beach Ungasan, outfits that feel relaxed, airy, and timeless work best. The landscape is already dramatic, so the goal is to complement it rather than compete with it.
The entrance fee for photo shooting at this location is IDR 500,000.
